Nyacks Hidden Secrets Overlooking the Hudson River
The Nyack Seaport and Lenas Restaurant are very special

One wedding at a time, custom menus and spectacular views of the Tappan Zee Bridge are some of the reasons why Valicitie Rubino, General Manager of The Nyack Seaport is so happy in her job.  Also under her wing is  Two Spear Street , a restaurant which is in the same building. Valicitie was recruited out of her management position with a high-end retailer in New York City to come to the 'burbs' and manage in a totally different atmosphere.  We had better stop here and mention that her dad is Angelo Rubino, a well-known restaurateur here in Rockland County and owns and manages 3 other establishments in the county.  All of his children are finding their way into the business, which is great for the general public.  The Rubino family breeds fine eating-places.

Let's get right to the two establishments here in Nyack.  The Nyack Seaport is used specifically for the on-site catering business. In all of its splendor with a magnificent entrance on Burd Street, a downstairs cocktail room, is perfect to take care of those wishing to sit down and absorb the unbelievable view of the TZ Bridge. This beautiful room  is a great place to mingle and imbibe.  Walking up to the main dining room with a panoramic view of the TZ is accessed by a wide circular staircase.  The dining room is huge, elegantly decorated and even has a very large dance floor for any occasion, especially weddings.  The food is uniquely prepared in one very large, ultra-clean kitchen, and two separate Chefs.  One chef manages the Seaport (Catering) and the other Chef manages the restaurant (Two Spear Street).  This unique culinary management strategy allows for the collaborative experience of the two chefs, yet keeps their respective talents within their areas of expertise.  Example being, a chef who can direct a small menu may not necessarily be comfortable or experienced feeding 700 to 3,000 at one sitting.

Angelo Rubino began his restaurant career 31 years ago as a bus boy and now owns one of the best kept secrets in the area.  Armed with Bachelors from Farleigh Dickinson University, Rubino has infused his restaurants with top-level talent and his own family.  With his daughter Valicitie running both the Seaport and Two Spear Street  as General Manager, his son Kyle is attending culinary school, his son Trevor works as a bus boy and his daughter Brittanie is an assistant manager at one of the other sites, he has ensured a legacy for the Rubino restaurant empire.  Rubino said of his wife Aylin, "She keeps me going!".   One of the reasons why the restaurants are so successful is because, Rubino believes that creativity and inventiveness in the kitchen is a result of not only the chef but also listening to the customers, the management and the staff.  All of these elements transcend into a fresh menu every season and in the case of the Rubino operations where everything is made from scratch and prepared to order, the customer is the winner!  The moderately priced menu has received accolades from customers and critics alike and when you take a world-class cuisine, and parlay it with a romantic atmosphere, excellent service and then look at the view....what more can be said.  If you are planning an affair from 2 to 7,000, then the Nyack Seaport can either cater it at your  site or produce it in their magnificent facilities.  If you want an intimate dinner in an exquisite atmosphere then Two Spear Street is the place to go.  Either way this Nyack secret deserves to be discovered.  Two Spear Street at 2 Spear Street, Nyack and The Nyack Seaport at 21 Burd Street, Nyack can both be reached at 845-353-3200.
